Daddy Yankee, Bad Bunny, Karol G Lead Reggaeton Docuseries Trailer

Reggaeton’s Journey to Global Stardom

A new docuseries called Reggaeton: The Sound That Conquered the World will premiere on Peacock on October 3rd.

The four-part series dives deep into the roots of reggaeton, showcasing how it all began and highlighting key artists who helped shape the genre. It also features the new generation of musicians ensuring reggaeton’s place in today’s music scene.

Daddy Yankee, the executive producer, uses the series to debunk critics who said reggaeton wouldn’t last. Just a minute of footage proves them wrong, showing Bad Bunny’s electrifying performances alongside clips of early reggaeton pioneers.

Karol G adds her voice, explaining how reggaeton is now huge worldwide. She shares that the genre comes from kids with big dreams but few resources. Daddy Yankee echoes this sentiment, saying, “Nobody thought that we were gonna make it, and then we ended up being everyone’s favorite act.”

Fans can see how far reggaeton has come and be inspired by its journey.

Two years ago, Daddy Yankee announced his final tour and album, reflecting on the genre’s beginnings. He described it as a blend of dancehall, reggae, rap, house music, salsa, bachata, and vallenato. Reggaeton didn’t even have a name when he started.

“It was always my goal to carry the banner and lead,Ć¢ā‚¬Ā he mentioned, appreciating the success of artists like Bad Bunny, Karol G, Sech, Rauw Alejandro, and Myke Towers. He also praised veterans like J Balvin, Maluma, Ozuna, and Anuel AA for their contributions.

The series includes appearances from stars like Feid, Ivy Queen, J Balvin, Myke Towers, Rauw Alejandro, Shaggy, and Vico C. Directed by Omar Acosta, it’s produced by Mercury Studios, Saboteur Media, and El Cartel.
