Darkness Preview Dreams on Toast Album with Longest Kiss

The Darkness revealed their new album, “Dreams on Toast,” set to come out on March 28, 2025.

They also released a song called “The Longest Kiss,” a gentle rock tune inspired by Seventies music from Queen and Paul McCartney. The song talks about a kiss so long it makes you think about proposing. “I lost all perception of time/ It sounds ridiculous, but I swear it was sublime/ Now, all I ever want to do/Is break that record that I set that day with you,” sings Justin Hawkins.

Justin Hawkins shared that the chorus came to be when his brother Dan spent a lot of time in the bathroom during a pub visit. Interestingly, the song has roots in a musical they’ve been working on for ten years named “The Collapse of the Lowestoft Fishing Industry.”

Hawkins humorously added that he got the idea for the lyrics while in Nairn, Scotland. He woke up to a beautiful view and was hugging his partner. “Weird that I can still sing, but that’s a testament to the resilience of humans, especially lead singers.”

Fans love how artists get inspiration from everyday life moments.

The band plans to start touring the album in March with 17 shows across the UK, and more dates in North America will be announced soon.

Their 2003 hit, “I Believe in a Thing Called Love,” recently went viral when Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were seen singing it at the US Open. Hawkins talked about the clip in a TikTok video, saying how wonderful their experience was at The Eras Tour and sharing the note Swift left for them.

Swift’s note read, “What a thrill to have you at the show! I’m a massive fan of yours and think ‘I Believe in a Thing Called Love’ is one of the greatest songs of all time. I hope you and your family have fun at the show! Thanks so much for coming!”
