Eagles Dedicate Heartache Tonight to JD Souther at Sphere Show

Honoring J.D. Souther at Las Vegas Show

Don Henley spoke to the crowd, sharing that J.D. Souther played a big role in the Eagles’ success.

The Eagles began their concert in Las Vegas by dedicating “Heartache Tonight” to J.D. Souther, who passed away earlier in the week. Henley mentioned Souther before the last song of the evening.

He expressed gratitude for Souther’s contributions, highlighting his importance despite not being in the band.

Before “Heartache Tonight,” Henley also remembered Jimmy Buffett. He encouraged the audience to sing loudly.

Earlier, the Eagles wrote a heartfelt tribute to Souther, calling him a brother, friend, and a major influence on the Southern California sound from the 1970s.

He co-wrote many hits like “The Best of My Love,” “New Kid in Town,” and “Heartache Tonight.” Souther also worked with Henley on his solo projects.

Joe Walsh shared his thoughts online before the Las Vegas show, calling Souther a dear friend and partner in fun adventures. He wished him well on his next journey.
