Elton John Jokes About Health at Documentary Premiere

Elton John Shares Health Updates at Documentary Premiere

Elton John joked about his numerous surgeries and missing body parts at the New York premiere of his new documentary, Elton John: Never Too Late.

At the event, he humorously listed all the things he’s had removed or replaced, including tonsils, adenoids, appendix, prostate, both knees, and a hip. Only his left hip remains untouched.

Despite all this, Elton kept a positive attitude, saying, "To be honest with you, there’s not much of me left." He mentioned his recent knee replacement in January and a severe eye infection that affected his vision just last month. But he proudly stated, “But I’m still here. And I can’t thank you [enough], you’re the people that made me.Ć¢ā‚¬Ā

Fans admire his resilience and humor through such tough times.

He expressed gratitude towards his husband David Furnish and their sons, Zachary and Elijah. Now retired from touring after his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour ended in July 2023, he spends more time with his family. He shared, “As you know, I decided to stop touring because I’m 77 years of age. I’ve done all there is to do, to play. I’ve succeeded. I’ve been there and I’ve done it.Ć¢ā‚¬Ā

Without touring, Elton stays connected to music, which has been a constant source of strength for him. “I’ve still got to make room because I’m still going to have music in my life. But the most important things in my life are David, Zachary, and Elijah, and my family and my friends. I found utopia, and I’m so thrilled,Ć¢ā‚¬Ā he said. He also added, “Even when I was in my darkest times, I still played music, I still recorded music, so I have to say thank you to music for being the most incredible inspiration to me throughout my whole life.Ć¢ā‚¬Ā

The film Never Too Late reflects on his journey with music, showing his farewell tour and giving glimpses into his family life and career archives. The documentary will hit select theaters in the U.S. and U.K. on Nov. 15 and will be available on Disney+ starting Dec. 13.
