Louder Than Life Cancels Friday Due to Hurricane Helene

Louder Than Life had to call off its Friday events at the Louisville festival because of bad weather caused by Hurricane Helene.

The festival started on Thursday, but by Friday, strong winds and heavy rain from Helene hit the area. Gov. Andy Beshear declared a state of emergency for eastern Kentucky because of the severe weather.

The festival tried to go on despite the weather, even opening lots for attendees. But after a few hours, a “shelter in place” warning was given, and eventually, the second day of the event was canceled.

“Louder family, we’re heartbroken to share this, but the weather just isn’t in our favor today. We’ve been working closely with our meteorologists and local authorities, holding on to hope that we could open doors, but the continuous wind gusts simply make it impossible for us to proceed safely,Ć¢ā‚¬Ā Louder Than Life organizers said on social media.

“Throughout the day there were moments where it seemed possible, but in the end, Mother Nature won this round.Ć¢ā‚¬ĀĆ‚Ā

Acts like Slayer, Evanescence, Anthrax, Tom Morello, and Till Lindemann’s solo debut in the U.S. were affected by the cancelation.

Fans feel sad about this news.

“We know how disappointing this is Ć¢ā‚¬ā€ it’s gut-wrenching for us too. But you safety, along with the safety of our artists and crew, will always be our number one priority,Ć¢ā‚¬Ā organizers added.

Rain might still come on Saturday, but it’s not supposed to be as strong, according to the Courier-Journal. If the weather cooperates, fans can expect Motley Crue, Disturbed, Dropkick Murphys, Three 6 Mafia, and Mastodon performing Leviathan.
