Sabrina Carpenter’s Tiny Desk Performance: Short ‘n Sweet Faves

Sabrina Carpenter is curious if NPR has any job openings.

During her Tiny Desk performance, she filled the space with cheerful tales about the songs from Short ‘n Sweet and playfully commented on the radio station’s work atmosphere. "NPR, I’ve been watching this show… everyone says this, whatever. You guys are great! You guys know you’re great!" she joked, surrounded by a full band and string players cramped into the tiny space.

Her set kicked off with “Taste” as she rocked her signature blond curls in a blue dress and lace stockings.

“When I first started, it was kind of in a room like this: Very dry walls and there’s no reverb like when there’s headphones in the studio, but there’s something so real about it. It’s so special,” she shared. Her playful outros, full of silly innuendos, earned her a cheeky reputation. These happened by accident during her last tour but sparked creativity for her new album. She said, “I had this limitless feeling when I started writing Short n’ Sweet.”

Next, she introduced “Bed Chem” with a funny tale about sharing a bed with her friend Paloma, both waking up at the same time. “I was like, ‘We have really good bed chem,’ so I saved it as a title," she said, then mentioned meeting a guy with similar "bed chem."

Continuing with tunes like “Please Please Please” and a hint of “Slim Pickins,” she displayed some country flair, joking, “How do you like this office? Is it a nice working environment? This seems so fun. I was literally just like, ‘I wanna work here!” Are you looking for anyone?”

She performed “Espresso,” explaining its humorous “Juno” line, which was born from a joke with friends. "Make you wanna make me Juno," she chuckled, adding, “It’s a funny way to be like ‘Knock me up please.’ I’m so sorry, by the way.” Apologizing to her band for the story, she laughed about performing it live.

Wrapping up a remarkable year, Carpenter is up for several Grammy awards in 2025 after Short ‘n Sweet and the hit “Espresso” made waves. She’s nominated for big categories like Album, Record, and Song of the Year, plus Best New Artist.
