Snoop Dogg Takes Over the Arizona Bowl

Snoop Dogg turned the Arizona Bowl into his own special event this year.

Dubbed “the Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl presented by Gin & Juice by Dre and Snoop,” the game at Arizona Stadium became more about him than the teams playing. The rapper’s logo adorned one end zone, while low riders were showcased at the other. He mingled with fans at tailgate parties and even participated in the ceremonial coin toss on the 50-yard line.

Snoop has a history with football; he started his own league for kids in Southern California, and his son played college football. During the game, he put on a headset on the Colorado State sideline, pretending to call plays. At halftime, he was back at the center of the field, leading the bands from both universities.

In the third quarter, Snoop jumped into the commentary booth, sharing, “This is a seven-day-a-week thing with me, man. I guess I’m the people’s champ because I love the people as much as they love me.”

Miami (Ohio) clinched the victory, winning 43-17, and Snoop marked the occasion by cruising onto the field in a classic car to celebrate with the winners. They received gold chains from Death Row Records and took a joyride with their coach, Chuck Martin, who later reflected, “I’m sitting there with a gold chain and my wife is laughing her ass off. Snoop’s there … who in the world is cooler than Snoop?”

Fans think it’s cool when celebrities join sports events.

Before the game, Snoop shared that all players would get NIL money for participating. On social media, he said, “College football fans are exhausted by the constant talk around NIL, conference realignment, coach movement, transfer portal and super conferences. So it’s time that we get back to the roots of college football — when it was focused on the colleges, the players and the competition, the community, the fan experience and the pageantry.”
